Corporate Relationships Standards and Procedures

This document outlines the American Cancer Society’s Corporate Relationship Standards and Procedures, aimed at ensuring risk-aware decision-making to protect the ACS brand and reputation while complying with laws and enhancing revenue generation.

Relationships should not be contrary to the mission and values of ACS. Any company planning to enter a relationship with ACS must be in good business standing and the company’s and/or its owners’ reputation, policies and business practices must not present harm to ACS’s reputation.

When a company wants to support ACS:

  • ACS team members manage the paperwork. Volunteers cannot sign contracts – but your staff partner is here to help and can route the official forms and agreements to the authorized ACS team member who can sign paperwork.
  • Loop ACS in early. Share details of any potential partnership with your staff partner so it can be properly reviewed and ensure it is the strongest partnership for all involved.
  • Logos and messaging require approval. Use of any ACS or ACS program logos must be approved by an ACS team member. Logos cannot be changed or modified in any way.

The Corporate Standards Chart below shows product and industry categories that carry different levels of risk for ACS.

  • Green: These categories are generally safe to move forward with, as long as all other due diligence steps are completed.
  • Yellow: These may require a closer look. Please check in with your ACS staff contact before moving ahead.
  • Red: These categories are off-limits—staff and volunteers should not enter into these relationships.
