Meet Our Voices

Kristy Boudloche

My name is Kristy Boudloche.  I live in Houma, Louisiana with my dog, Snickers.

I started Relaying in 2012 as a participant.  After a few years, I formed my own team and have been team captain since that time.  When I first started, I was Relaying for my family and friends; however, things changed on August 7, 2018, when I heard the words “you have cancer.”  I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma).  In 2020, I was selected as a Spirit of Hope honoree.  In 2021, I joined the Event Leadership Team for our local Relay For Life of Terrebonne Parish.

My journey started with my pug named Precious. She was the one who found my tumor and stayed by my side throughout my entire journey: 16 rds of chemo, double mastectomy, 30 rds of radiation and knee surgery.  After she saw that I beat this disease, Precious peacefully passed in my arms on November 15, 2019.

In June 2022, my best fiend was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months; over a year later he is still fighting (and continues to trim my hair).  My father was diagnosed in September 2022 with Stage I colon cancer.  Recently, I found out 2 of my friends have cancer.  One friend is 21 years old with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. The other is my coworker who has a mass in her throat.  Their diagnoses continue to weigh heavy on my heart.  The fight continues.

I love going to our local cancer facility Mary Bird Perkins of Houma.  I continue to have appointments once a month at the cancer clinic for my injections.  I enjoy meeting new warriors and being able to sit with them and let them know that they are not alone in their fight.

I am very honored to have been chosen to be a Voice of Hope in 2022.
