Meet Our Voices

Tina Atchison

Tina Atchison lives in Aubrey, Texas with her husband Joe.  Tina has one daughter, Lindsay who lives in the Dallas area.  Tina works from home as a Team Leader for GE Steam Power.

Tina is a caregiver who has been volunteering for the American Cancer Society since 2007.  She started her Relay life by supporting a co-worker as well as to honor her father.  When her mom was diagnosed with cancer, Relay became her passion.

Tina has been a team captain each year and has served on Event Leadership Teams in various roles for Relay For Life of Fort Bend County and Relay For Life of Katy West Houston.  She has served in many roles including Event Lead, Event Co-Lead, Online Chair, Luminaria Chair, and Mission/Advocacy Lead.  Tina has been active in area Leadership and the Voices of Hope.

Why does Tina Relay?  She Relays because she lost both of her parents to cancer and has many other family members and friends impacted by cancer.  Because of the number of her family members with cancer, Tina is motivated to do more to help cancer patients and their families.  She wants caregivers to know there is help for them as well as for cancer patients.

She has been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network (ACSCAN) since 2013.  She is very passionate about being Vice State Lead Ambassador and lobbying our government on a state and federal level to support legislation to help cancer patients. It is important to her to continue to help fight for cancer patients and to keep funding for cancer research and other preventative programs.

When she is not volunteering, she enjoys reading, crafts, baking, and spending time with her friends.
