Hi, my name is Lanell Coln. I became a Voice of Hope in 2018. Cancer is all too familiar to me, and I miss the family I have lost to the disease. This disease took my grandmother in 1970, my dad in 1996 and my sister in 2006. Then in 2013, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I am the first member of my family to become a survivor.  My treatment consisted of surgery and chemotherapy.

I live in Corinth, Mississippi and have been involved with Relay For Life for many years, however, we don’t have any local events anymore. That has not stopped me however! We have held several Night Glows at our local airport in support of ACS. During Relay, I served as a team captain and on the leadership team in multiple roles over the years. Since 2008, I have organized a Bluegrass Festival in support of ACS. I have seen firsthand how the American Cancer Society programs have helped many people. I share information about the many programs of the American Cancer Society, including the National Cancer Information Center and cancer.org. I plan to be a part of the American Cancer Society for as long as I is able.

My main interest in life is helping others. I am very active in my community, in many ways. I am a part of New Vision Outreach, Christ Home Center and her local animal shelter. I am also a member of a Cancer Support Group. I am also the Director of Sharing Hearts, an adult daycare. This service enables caregivers to take a day for themselves once a week as we take care of their loved ones. I am also the Director of the Corinth Literacy Council.
