Blair Duthu

My name is Blair Duthu.  I live in Houma, Louisiana with my very supportive husband, Brennan, and two incredible kids, Zachary and Vivian.  I am 40 years old.  I have been a physical therapist for 16 years; specializing in treating pelvic floor dysfunction.  I am a daughter, a wife, a mother and a friend.

I have been a part of the Relay For Life of Terrebonne since 2007.  I participated because it was a fun event raising money for a good cause.  I am also involved with Relay For Life of Lafourche.  It warms my heart to see the community come together to fight cancer.  The meaning of Relay For Life changed when I joined the survivors lap.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on June 16th, 2021, at 37 years old.  My children were 4 years old and 8 years old.  I read the words “invasive lobular carcinoma”. I dropped to my knees; time stopped for a second.  I was not at risk for breast cancer.  It did not make sense.  I was too young.  How would I provide for my family and fight this illness?  I lived a healthy, active lifestyle.  I quickly put my boxing gloves on and was ready to fight with all that I had.  I needed to be here for my family.

I underwent 4 surgeries which included a double mastectomy, 16 rounds of chemo, 25 rounds of radiation, and 2 years of oral chemo.  I have found my cure due to cutting edge research.

My family time is important to me.  We love spending weekends watching Zachary and Vivian play soccer.  As a family, we enjoy traveling.  Because I finally felt good enough to travel again, my motto in 2023 for planning family vacations was “just book it”!

I will continue to raise money to help those ahead of me find their cure!!!
