Communicating with School Administrators

Sometimes, working with school administrators can prove to be challenging, but it is important to prioritize fostering a positive relationship with them to be more productive throughout the school year.

Start Off Strong

Set up a meeting with the administration at the beginning of the year to outline the club’s goals and event plans for the year to make sure the school feels included in strategizing. This will also help to foresee which fundraisers will be blocked from being approved, giving the ELT and Leads time to re-work them to pass.

Expand Your Network

Consider ways to fundraise off campus, such as local grocery stores and coffee shops to work around strict on-campus restrictions

Keep In Mind For High Schools

Event Leads
Work strategically with your student event leads on timeline, meeting agendas, to-do list etc.
Student Committees
Set expectations with students on the committee for the school year and revisit these when they seem to stray from the guidelines set.
Delegate
Delegate the work to the students so they can learn through experience and build leadership skills over time.
