February – New National Campus & Youth Engagement Team 2021-2021

In February we rolled-on our new NCYET team of amazing high school and college volunteers! They all bring experience from ACS On Campus events around the country and have already gotten started on some great projects, that you’ll read about below. See the team here.

March – Advocacy Week

As of March 1st, all Relay For Life registrations fees will go towards diversity, health equity, and inclusion efforts. Read more about ACS’ dedication to fighting health disparities here.

The week of March 21st was the American Cancer Society’s first ACS on Campus Advocacy Week in which we encouraged schools throughout the nation to have their students sign up to become ACS CAN members and begin their advocacy journeys. This year, the political climate has given us a huge opportunity to support our student advocates in driving forward policy that will positively impact the cancer community locally and nationally. Over the course of that one week, we had over 130 new ACS CAN memberships! Each of you have taken this opportunity and are helping advance the ACS CAN mission. Thank you all so much for taking the steps to support the cancer community through policy and legislation. April – Spring Into Action Against Health Disparities Challenge

ACS is focused on battling health disparities and we know this generation is passionate about social change. In addition to RFL registration fees going toward diversity, health equity, and inclusion efforts through the rest of the year – we wanted to make a bigger splash. On April 1st, we held our Spring Into Action Against Health Disparities and our ACS On Campus community raised $65,000 in 24 hours – that’s amazing! We set a challenge, and you delivered. All of the funds raised are going directly towards funding research on health disparities and internships for people of underrepresented populations. Special shoutout to Hunterdon High School for raising over $19,000 and Youngstown State University for raising $3,500 during the event! You all are showing us the future is bright and your dedication to the cause is inspiring to us all. Between advocacy and fundraising, you have shown that our generation is serious about making a difference in cancer patients’ lives, and for that we thank you. What to look forward to this summer & fall:

ACS Summer School will be starting the week of June 14th and go until the week of July 19th. We’ll bring you training videos and more about fundraising, advocacy, ACS mission, global efforts, and more!

Campus Runs the World – join our second running, walking, biking event this fall to get your fall fundraising going!

ACS On Campus Con – the NCYET is planning our first ever virtual conference! Open to all ACS On Campus volunteers far and wide, join us in kicking off the 2021 – 2021 school year! Details to come, save the date for Sunday, September 19th.
