VOICES of Black Women Study
Relay For Life Activation Resources
VOICES of Black Women is a new population cohort study led by the American Cancer Society that launched in May 2024. This groundbreaking study is designed to help us better understand the factors influencing cancer incidence, mortality, and resilience among Black women in the United States—insights that are critical to advancing health equity and improving outcomes. As the largest cohort study of cancer risk and outcomes among Black women in the U.S., its findings will help shape future research, prevention, and care strategies.
Relay For Life has played a pivotal role in cancer research recruitment, serving as the foundation for the American Cancer Society’s third Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3). From 2006 to 2013, more than 800 Relay For Life events helped enroll 300,000 participants in CPS-3, creating a diverse and impactful study that continues to generate lifesaving insights today. That same spirit of community-driven progress makes Relay For Life an essential part of recruiting for VOICES of Black Women—because together, we can help shape the future of cancer prevention and survivorship.
We need your help to reach our goal of enrolling 100,000 Black women in this historic study! Use this page as a resource to share the VOICES of Black Women study within your community and encourage participation.
