We invite Relayers everywhere to take part in Gordy’s Give Back Day on April 30, 2026. This special day will honor Dr. Gordon “Gordy” Klatt, whose dedication sparked a global movement. In May 1985, Gordy walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, raising $27,000 for the American Cancer Society, founding what would become Relay For Life.

On Gordy’s Give Back Day, we encourage Relayers and volunteers everywhere to give or fundraise $43 for the American Cancer Society on 4/30. We’ve come so far, but the future depends on us continuing with the same energy and dedication that Gordy showed that first year. Together, we can make an even more impactful future in the fight to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Here are some easy ways to raise $43 in just one day for Gordy’s Give Back Day on April 30, 2026. Don’t forget—you can use the FUNdraising app to accept donations via credit card, check, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Venmo!

• The $11 Challenge – Ask four friends to donate $11 each. Quick and easy!
• Social Media Blitz – Post your Relay fundraising link with a personal story (don’t forget a photo!) and ask for small donations. You might hit $43 in minutes!
• Lunch or Coffee for a Cause – Ask coworkers, friends, or family to donate what they would have spent on lunch or coffee today.
• Venmo Challenge – Post on social media asking friends to send $5 or $10 via Venmo and watch the donations add up.
• Quick Bake Sale – Bring cookies, brownies, or snacks to work or school and ask for small donations in exchange.
• Walk or Run for Donations – Commit to walking or running a certain distance and ask for $5 per mile or lap.
• Speed Fundraise with the FUNdraising App – Text, call, or message 9 friends and ask them to give $5 each.
