2025 Nationwide Team of the Year: Neshobe School and Friends

We are proud to announce that Neshobe School and Friends, of Relay For Life of Rutland County, Vermont, has been named the 2025 Nationwide Team of the Year as part of the Pat Flynn Spirit of Relay Awards. This honor recognizes a team that exemplifies the Spirit of Relay through exceptional fundraising, deep mission integration, and unwavering commitment to community.

In 2025, Neshobe School and Friends achieved a remarkable milestone, increasing their fundraising by $16,500 over the previous year to raise a total of $37,632—earning them the distinction of top fundraising team for their event. Notably, this marked the first time in the event’s 36-year history that a non-corporate team claimed the top spot, demonstrating the power of grassroots leadership and community engagement.

The team embraces a year-round fundraising mindset, launching efforts as soon as the event site goes live and already hosting multiple fundraisers for the upcoming season. A standout addition in 2025 was their first-ever golf tournament, which raised over $13,000 in its inaugural year and is now set to become an annual tradition.

Beyond fundraising, Neshobe School and Friends are known for the heart they bring to Relay. From welcoming survivors and caregivers to staffing the Survivor Reception Tent, walking the full overnight event, and ensuring no one feels alone, this team consistently leads with compassion, presence, and purpose. Their dedication and collaborative spirit make them a shining example of what Relay For Life is all about.

Neshobe School and Friends remind us that when a team leads with heart, service, and community, the impact reaches far beyond the track—and truly embodies the Spirit of Relay.
