2026 Fall Fundraising Challenge Social Media Tips
Help your participants see that their commitment to the American Cancer Society continues beyond event day. Encourage them to keep fundraising, celebrate progress, and connect the challenge back to the people and reasons that inspire them to participate.
We are providing social graphics, but the most meaningful posts are the ones that sound like you and reflect your event and community. Rather than copying and pasting the same caption, use the creative as a starting point and make the message personal.
Main Message: Walk On. Wear your impact.
REMINDER: Keep social media posts generally positive and hopeful. We want to lift up members of our community and get people excited about our mission.
Share a fundraising tip. What is one simple way someone can ask for another donation or share their fundraising page?
- Example: “I heard the most amazing approach to fundraising recently from a cashier at the grocery store (no joke)! Instead of asking “Would you like to donate,” she asked, “how much would you like to donate?” This flipped the conversation from a “yes” or “no” answer to a distinct, specific dollar amount. So, this year, I’m asking people how they would like me to achieve my goal.”
Make it local. Share a favorite event moment or photo and remind your community why they came together.
- Example: Anastasia Muncie from Scranton, PA might share something like: “One of my favorite things about Relay For Life is seeing our Scranton community come together to make a difference! I’m already looking forward to another incredible season, reconnecting with familiar faces, welcoming new ones, and making an even bigger impact in the fight against cancer. Let’s make this our best year yet! Who’s joining us? [link]”
Feeling stuck? Try asking Chat GPT to help you brainstorm some post ideas. Use prompts like “Facebook post caption to encourage audience to sign up for Relay For Life” or “Social media post to help re-engage fundraisers.”
Make sure that the captions sound AUTHENTIC and HUMAN. You want to activate and excite your audience about Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society and the easiest way to do that is use your own words and experiences. Use Chat GPT as a tool, not to replace your genuine human stories, experiences, and thoughts.
Suggested prompts for Facebook groups:
- What inspires you to keep walking on year round?
- What is one more thing you can do this month to reach your fundraising goal?
- How close are you to your $350 challenge goal? Share your progress and cheer each other on!
Suggested images:
- Use the provided November Challenge graphics, including the quarter-zip and progress-focused options. They can be found here: Canva Folder
- Whenever possible, pair a graphic with a favorite event photo or a genuine story from your community.
- When sharing, tag @americancancersociety and use your event’s established social tags.
Suggested posting moments:
- November 1–2 – Introduce the challenge and invite participants to keep fundraising.
- Mid-November – Share a fundraising tip, local story, or progress check-in.
- December 1 – Connect to Giving Tuesday and remind participants that the challenge ends today.
Reminder: The November challenge ends on Giving Tuesday, but the broader Giving Tuesday messaging is mission-led. Keep the fundraising challenge as a supporting reminder rather than the main Giving Tuesday message.
