We are proud to announce that Erin Schrieber, Staff Partner for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Detroit (Michigan), has been named the 2025 Nationwide Spirit of Strides Staff Partner of the Year. This honor recognizes an ACS staff partner who exemplifies the very best of volunteer-staff partnership and embodies the Spirit of Strides.
In her first year with ACS, Erin helped lead Detroit Strides to an extraordinary season—projecting $75,000–$100,000 over goal after two consecutive years of falling short, with total fundraising already surpassing $770,000 and still climbing. Her leadership brought renewed energy, creativity, and growth to one of the largest Strides events in the country.

The nomination was submitted by Lisa Beck, volunteer leader with Making Strides of Detroit, who shared:
“Erin has this ability to make every single person in the room feel important and heard in the way she connects with them. She genuinely cares about the community, the people we are fighting for, and the volunteers. If you bring up her name, everyone smiles and says she’s amazing.”
Volunteers consistently praised Erin’s relationship-building, creativity, and hands-on leadership—from securing new sponsors and community partners to redesigning the event layout, improving parking and transportation, and expanding survivor engagement beyond event day. Even when a medical emergency kept her from attending the event itself, Erin had ensured everything was so well planned that the event ran seamlessly.
Erin Schrieber represents the heart of Making Strides—showing that when staff lead with authenticity, care, and connection, volunteers feel empowered, communities feel seen, and the mission grows stronger.
