Clinical Trial Modernization Act

Hi everyone! As Cancer Action Day events are in full swing, let’s discuss a critical initiative aimed at improving access to life-saving cancer treatments: the Clinical Trial Modernization Act.

Did you know that clinical trials are essential for the development of new cancer treatments, yet many patients face barriers that prevent them from participating? By addressing these barriers, we can ensure that more cancer patients have access to the latest scientific advancements and cutting-edge treatments.

According to the American Cancer Society, participation in clinical trials is crucial for the successful development of new cancer therapies. However, many patients must travel long distances, stay at hotels, and take time off work to participate. These challenges make it difficult for many to access these vital trials.

The Clinical Trial Modernization Act aims to:

  • Remove financial barriers that prevent patients from participating in clinical trials
  • Allow for remote participation, enabling patients to contribute from the comfort of their homes
  • Ensure that more patients have access to the latest treatments, regardless of their location or financial situation

So what is the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) doing about this?

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is actively advocating for the passage of the Clinical Trial Modernization Act to enhance access to clinical trials for all cancer patients.

ACS CAN is aiming to:

  • Advocate for policies that reduce financial and logistical barriers to clinical trial participation
  • Raise awareness about the importance of clinical trials in developing new cancer treatments
  • Work with lawmakers to ensure the passage of this critical legislation

These are just some of the ways ACS CAN is working to improve access to cancer treatments.
