2024 Day of Giving - May 7, 2024
Help us double the impact and end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Donations received by all Relay For Life events in Iowa will be matched up to $10,000 on Tuesday, May 7.
- Registered Relay For Life participants will receive double Relay Rewards points for donations received on May 7. (online and offline donations count must be posted online between 12:01 am and 11:59pm)
- Funds received will be matched up to $10,000 thanks to a generous donor (matching dollars will not be credited to individuals/teams/events)

Lodging
- Helped cancer patients with lodging needs from all over Iowa
- American Cancer Society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge located in Iowa City:
- Nights of free lodging provided: 14,467
- An additional 494 Iowa residents were provided 7,886 nights of free lodging at 13 other ACS Hope Lodges across the country
- Provided $200,000 in Lodging and Transportation Grants
Transportation
- Provided $200,000 in Transportation and Lodging Grants
- Transportation grants provided 16,033 rides in 2023
Research
- Over $2.91 million currently funded in cancer research grants in Iowa
Advocacy (American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network)
- ACS CAN volunteers and staff protected Iowa Medicaid from harmful legislation that would create barriers for Iowans to receive Medicaid benefits, the only affordable healthcare option in the state.
- ACS CAN volunteers and staff launched its biomarker testing coverage campaign educating lawmakers on the benefits of these tests and identifying legislative champions.
